This job is a priority of university students when choosing a career and what about those who are already graduates. Although we already have some experience in this field and we could tell it here, we believe more appropriate to cite the document degree in Information and Documentation and adapt to their content impartial. In any case, we highlight the findings of paragraph Studies Job Placement:

  • The job placement rate of graduates in Library and Information Science is very high. Although no data are available on other courses that can serve as a reference point, there have been a high percentage of graduates who find employment related to their studies within a relatively short time. In many cases, even job placement begins before the end of the race mainly through scholarships and internship agreements.
  • Despite the high rate of job placement, there is a certain insecurity that is concentrated in certain geographical areas. The duration of scholarship is extended beyond the training period should cover, there is a certain rate of temporary contracts, high mobility and wages are sometimes lower than those which should correspond to the positions occupied.
  • There is a relationship between the geographical area of residence of the holder and obtain employment. Graduates of universities in Catalonia and Madrid, where there is a greater presence of government and more importantly a business network, is inserted with ease in the world of work. In this regard, we note that there is a large labor market, still far from being saturated. For example, graduates from the University of Barcelona the first to offer the Diploma continue to show excellent insertion rates.
  • In recent years there has been a diversification of sources of employment. In the early nineties, the majority of graduates working for public entities, mostly in libraries under different administrations. In recent years, however, an increasingly significant percentage of graduates have found employment in private sector companies.
  • The level of satisfaction with their training graduates is high. This is a good opinion derives in large measure on the usefulness of studies to integrate into the labor market.
  • Although an increasing number of graduates who find employment in private accommodation, still seems to be a lack of knowledge and prestige of the degree among employers in this sector. This phenomenon is detected by graduates in the job search process and he attributed the difficulties to join in greater numbers to private companies.

Erm okay, you have to encourage people, so talk of Madrid and in general.

In Madrid there is a condition of competitions, leaving many a year and anyone who prepares them in a position to have a great range of possibilities.

The employability of students, or graduates is on scholarship, we went from a scholarship to another and practically when going to job interviews know are for scholarships.

The private company does not know what you want, ask for jobs computer database management, administrative or secretaries asking for files, websites, etc..

The labor supply is not bad, in fact, but we must always look at jobs that do not fit the profile of documentarian / librarian / archivist, and as I mentioned in a large percentage have to do with the administration, which involves, inter alia, a lower salary (recruit graduates and graduates at the administrative level but develop the functions of his office to pay less)

I do not intend to discourage anyone, mind you that I love this world, but I prefer to be realistic.

Yavannna Thanks for your comment. :-D

Honestly, I wanted to be as impartial as possible on this issue, so no one new is going discouraging, but we ran smack into reality. When we had the site, in forums, asking that they gave us advice on job opportunities in Library and Information Science (B and D).

My answers were not good in terms of stability and amounts, as has been demonstrated, however the questioners were graduates in Humanities (History, Geography, Philologists ...) who could not find anything and any work that was not working in a fast food restaurant it seemed a marvel.

So I wanted to adjust the document from the undergraduate degree, because it seemed very interesting to give some information on employment in BYD.

However, what can I contribute to this? That the degradation in terms of the conditions and amount of jobs going from bad to worse. I do not think are giving conditions for the labor market to absorb all graduates mainly by:

    1. Lack of public institutions and private sector.
    2. Intrusismo (untitled Definámoslo as in B and D people trying to get a job in the same conditions as us)
    3. A race that has not developed enough in the private sector.
    4. (Exclusive of Valencia, I think) that has acquired debt Public Administration enables not offer more places for scholarships.

On the third point, to show a button. In one of the internet portals for job search, warehouse porters called "documentary" with documentation on file FPII hospital full € 600.

    So we're not going anywhere.

    :-(

  3. Catuxa says:

I think we have a serious problem once finished the race in our profession, unporblema overlap during the student years, a greater chance of working against students from other disciplines.

What I mean is that yes, the documentary have the opportunity to spend a career "Curran" Scholarship and Internship almost since second grade, which unlike other professions, however, won the title once, fellowships and practices do not become contracts of employment, employers continue its policy of scholarships, grants and most scholarships, and we have a job offer in terms!

  4. Scholarships are a double-edged sword: it is fortunate that there are many because it can form and begin to enter the world of work, but precisely because they can pull grantees, the government has not put enough seats to opposition (at least in Valencia ).

And on the private sector, there is almost no supply directly to our professional profile (do not know we exist or what we serve) or at least a halfway decent wage.

  5. Mark Ros says:

Yes, the situation of scholarship seems endemic. The worst thing is that you'll submit to an interview for a scholarship after another and you'll discover that people who have come is always the same or that there are 40 applicants for a position. And sometimes you come rumors that the chosen @ s were "plug", which completely frustrates. In addition, scholarships have some inbreeding because it is recognized that they need people, but refuse to develop a job in a position to do so. However, do not hesitate to convene annually. In fact, the fellow who has a two-year contract is sometimes considered privileged.

The extrapolation of the fellowship in the private sector would be called outsourcing, whose conditions have been denounced again and again as mailing lists or from some Iwetel blog. Unfortunately, the situation does not seem to be able to improve short-term ...

  6. The outsourcing is not a problem in the private sector. Increasingly, the administration resorted to offering seats for "technical adviser", implying register as autonomous, to hire archivists.

Nothing, to oppositional and forget all those rolls.

(And if you give us air us pretending to work for what we have studied for a decent wage. But what we thought!)

  7. Catuxa says:

Outsourcing in the public service is something that is on the agenda, apart from the blessed fellowship (which have little training) work based on technical advising outsourcing consulting in computing, telecom, etc. shifts.

  8. Mark Ros says:

Another problem we have already noted, but I want to emphasize here is the ignorance people have of the profession.

For example, Monica told us in one of those cafes School when she began working on his boss was looking for a scholarship as a first option to graduates in History, mainly because she was however soon found that graduates were already Documentation prepared for the job that had to work and acclimatization periods were shortened in the post.

This means that graduates need not learn the job, as were already trained in the proper development thereof.

[Yes, some do not stop (to work) or at Easter :-( ]

Hi I would like to refute that of q has many job opportunities the diplomaatura, q and not intend to generalize this is just my opinion, although I know a few q are like me.
In the private sector career jejeje see it very painful, I see q outputs, speaking no frills or technical terms that purport to show a high level of vocabulary, few if not rare, documentary work in television, newspapers and other media pq communication is fucking journalists often hire modules in documentation and graduates do not come close. On the Internet there are not many job sites that include our profession as another, which makes you hard to find job offers, the website had a section that was fine, in which jobs were, the only putada q q is requested positions require a resume that should study to get to forty and the oppositions is the only solution I see q in this race, so I come to the conclusion of q the diploma will become a carrara more history or literature of the kind which only you have the option of either the opposition or have the title to show that you have a college education is to work pq lo q Montarto jejeje or blog these are fashion q and inflated advertising and live or bad life it. So my advice is q q if you do not like this scene study books and otherwise q has more output. ah to see if the font size of the biggest comments we do this is for the webmaster. Thanks for the web is very good.

  10. [...] In the life of every student, during the race or at the end it comes the time when we must choose between working or further training. It is true that there is always a decision made freely, rather it is the circumstances that decide for us, but either option will surely determine our future careers and also our future "personal frustration. Obviously, this "vital option" occurs in all races and professions, but in the case of the Library, we can introduce a progressive labor (a doctor not ever start as an assistant in medicine), do that as librarians / documentary, the decision even more difficult. Consider first the first option: the full foray into the working world. In this occasion, I will not refer to works that have no connection with our formation, which could also be the case, but I will focus on the specific work of our profession, though, as all who carry a moving time for our little world professional know (and those who do not know you had better make the idea), the chances of finding a job according to our degree (Diploma or Degree) are very disappointing. But few have to read nonsense! The race is useless documentation is a waste of time, any administration can do our work. It is a career and a profession rather than be pulled from the sleeve to give food to the gentlemen of the university. Not to mention ... most oppositions to finger
