A new example of the library as a clearinghouse

On 8 January, lift daily published an article about a new service that the General Library of Gandia had developed which target users are immigrants residing in this city in the region of Safor. This library, a pioneer in Spain in implementing this system, offering a service through which allows the printing of newspapers of any country on the day of editing. This is intended to encourage many foreigners to come to it and participate in its activities.

The printing of newspapers, in an amalgam of two hundred from the five continents, is made possible by a satellite system that sends the necessary information for the publication of these specimens. Although the system is largely used in hotels, airports, Gandia is the first case in which the copies are free. The successful implementation and wide acceptance of this system has caused the general direction of Books and Libraries of the Generalitat Valenciana has requested the coordinator of the Multicultural Board Gandia, Gisela Sendra, to explain the actions in this city in order to apply, to the extent possible, in other municipalities of Valencia.
