Throughout my experience as a surfer, I've been finding that even with small applications for free or semigratuitas, I solved small problems that I was finding, while covering some I know have. Even what is more, since once they occupied a small part of my drive, so did a small part of my needs as a user.

So I would make and offer a small collection of freeware, shareware or failing that, which I consider a must own and have installed on my computer, in this case a PC running Windows. Of course you admit blame, but the question that comes to mind is: Could we say that it is all Documentalist software should be installed on your computer?

I would not venture much, but that I regard as the necessary software for the average Internet user.

Internet Browser

Although this should promote the use of the browser Mozilla browser or Firefox, by the way that whenever they post a new version surpass themselves, I will not do. The reason is that if you consider that Internet Explorer covers your needs, despite being a bit slow to load pages, I recommend the use of the application of Avant Browser substitute.

This application uses the core of the Internet Explorer program, but provides a range of added benefits that I did not leap to Mozilla when surfing the Internet. The main tabbed browsing is not yet incorporated Explorer, but also a number of options as a blocker, advertising pop-ups, can not upload images or flash animations on the sites you visit, not reproduce the sounds if you do not you let them, and so on. In addition, it allows the making of translations into different languages using the Google translator. Of course it is in Spanish.

FTP

Another tool that is completely inherent in the average Internet customers are FTP (File Transfer Protocol). If you have a personal website, I will feel the need to upload and download documents to your website even want to manage it in a simple way for creating and removing directories, for example. Since I started using the internet when I was manager Lletraferits Magazine, the program WS_FTP client had been my favorite, but did not satisfy me completely by poor navigation through the directories of my computer and my server.

The solution I found in Filezilla, which has nothing to do with the Mozilla Foundation, which is an open source solution that overcomes many FTP clients I've tried. This program is in English only.

Firewall

When the Blaster virus was born the summer of 2003, those who already had an ADSL line or we used to connect via a static IP, we discovered that we were gullible. Of course, Microsoft also showed that he was giving so many opportunities for virus writers and had to subject their users to an intensive re-education. Fortunately the solution to this problem was relatively simple and only had to configure WXP to protect our Internet connection by closing the ports that use programs that were running.

However, some wanted to go further and we consider installing a firewall to control the programs that accessed the Internet and the information he received our computer. One of the best, and easiest to use is ZoneAlarm which has a free version contant only with the firewall and other payment solutions such as a blocker more advertising.

Zip compressed files

When Microsoft released its new operating system Windows XP, installed by default, a single Zip file compressor system for your browser. Thus, the very well-known Winzip discovered that its market is once again constrained. Of course, these compression methods are not alone. There is a complete amalgam of programs that attempt to compress files while demonstrating that its compression algorithm is superior, such as Winrar.

Faced with chaos size choices, I just wanted a free program that compress and decompress all at once. The aforementioned are neither free nor descompriment compressed and everything, so that the solution I found was IZArc that integrates seamlessly into the operating system and is completely free.

Blogs and RSS Feeds

Since I appointed w.bloggar in a previous dispatch on this blog and therefore I do not think it takes to recommend it again, so pass directly to the feeds of feeds.

I tried some with different concepts (Abilon and Pluck), but definitely, I'll Sauce Reader. This uses technology. NET Framework from Microsoft, but it is the only one who still has not given me any problems, it has been demonstrated even more agile when it comes to display the last items on my computer. The only downside, if it can be seen in this way is that it is a bit slow when executed and closed in any case I have not yet found any more.

Other personal needs

If we further authorize the loop, we can add some functions to our system functions. Apple's operating system, Mac-OS, has a software that is installed by default on hold Post-digital at the user's desktop. The truth is that a documentary is always performing tasks on the computer while you accumulate additional creep, why not stick a few reminders on the desktop if memory fails us? The software I use is the ATnotes available in Castilian.

Another feature not available on MS Windows is on the agenda. Not all have the resources necessary to have a MS-Outlook in order to enjoy a calendar as an agenda and identify the most important days of the month, in addition to being allowed no effort to months that have come and gone . Rainlendar has a great visual style that can meet the needs of those who do not have an executive lifestyle. Highly recommended.

And a greater role, "tired of the mail program will occupy space on the taskbar? Need to send a program to the systray or notification area? 4t Tray is the program that I resolved to dispose of iTunes, another program recommended, in minimum space, in addition to the mail program active always willing to receive e-mails at any time.
