New update of Wordpress. Damn geeks!

It had been months since we were referring to an upgrade of CMS with maintaining this blog, Wordpress, but I think this occasion merits. This month is scheduled to release its version 2.3 and though many bloggers already have their teeth long before this update, we are a little calmer and we do not update until the waters are a bit quieter. As you know, is not uncommon for us to refer to the way we manage the updates of this blog, our last entry point refers to the version 1.2, although we have also published the plugins we used on a previous occasion.

The truth is we can not, nor should we, have complained of the community who spend their time and effort to keep up to date and free of flaws and bugs Wordpress. Of course nothing is perfect, in fact, has been described on occasion as Mammoth, due to the amount of server resources needed to operate, it favored an enhanced version called LightPress for websites that preveyesen a significant amount of traffic . Certainly not going to be our case, however for those that use Wordpress have a number of plugins that can facilitate our services are not protesting housing consumption of the CPU as WP-Cache or the latest 1blogcacher.

The fact is that we become increasingly more complicated renewed from one version to another. We will not deny that the update is simple to perform, but the pace of development is constant and the error correction required to be attentive to its publication or risk living with a hole in your blog. As always stated, the day is worked out a system for automatic updating of Wordpress, many will be happier and we only have to worry about writing. While this system is perfected, the update is manual, as well as backups of databases, files, etc.. Hard life of the blogger that sometimes gets lost and finds that every effort has gone in an instant.

But procrastination is not always, sometimes, the very progress of the log requires going to expand the tables in the database, installing plugins with capabilities is another aspect to keep in mind when you graduate, because Some of these additions will stop working or do so incorrectly. One of the worst moments we were when we update the 2.0.xa version 2.1. Simply, the categories of our blog disappeared since Wordpress developers saw no need to keep a table for categories of links and posts separately, so the merged. Our result was that the system was not updated correctly and we had to resort to our backup. Finally, up to version 2.1.2, do not get all worked well, which ties in with another problem, if you discover a security hole there is only one way to plug and is upgrading to the latest version, which is sometimes not is simple.

Our next threat is version 2.3 which offers many new features, for example, change the category system by Tags. Besides having to make some changes to the templates, the new system comes into conflict with the tagging plugin that we use in this blog (Ultimate Tag Warrior) and although the labels generated by this plugin can be exported, I think we to expect to improve the system is not that we are at 3 am trying to restore all the log while we wonder what may have happened and how to fix.

Anyway, this blogging is very hard to also find time to write, knowing what to say and how to say, you have to worry about accommodation and keep it clean and without vulnerabilities. Rather, the latter, it would not be possible by the efforts, dedication and willingness to selflessly puts countless people to keep the world continue to turn Wordpress and we have a place to continue arguing and discussing. Thinking, in short. Great job.
