It is about the start of the Community of Practice of the social web for information professionals who organizes the Sedic, which will run for six weeks and in which I am involved. This is a free activity open to anyone interested in participating that from 21 April to 18 June 2008, will serve as a space for reflection and mutual learning for both people who design the activities to all participants.

The coordinators of this initiative, José Antonio Merlo Vega and Luis Rodríguez Yunta, argue that this activity aims to address the current needs of librarians and information managers.

The documentation professionals and libraries are realizing the potential of social web not only for providing free services, but also by new forms of relationships with users, encouraging, seeking dialogue and participation. Professionals in our country are shown interest in the social web, something that is seen in the number of articles and papers published as well as by the number of round tables, meetings, conferences and workshops held on this next generation Internet .
Creating a community of practice, in which interested persons to learn at the same time and in coordination with the tools and techniques of social web and its application in the information centers will be an unprecedented average for professionals Spanish familiar with and master the resources available

The Community of Practice will take place entirely online and interactive under a blog and a wiki, have a weekly work schedule and with specific tutors for each module.
