Evaristo Jiménez y Álvaro Cabezas

Last week, from 3 to 5 November in AIDICO we have the presence of Evaristo Jiménez Contreras and Alvaro Cabezas you were good enough to accept our proposal for the holding of two workshops on Bibliometrics. Under the headings Using Bibliometric Indicators for the request during his administration and Accreditation (Focused researchers and academics) and Bibliometrics and Evaluation of Science, the speakers gave the audience an insight into the ways of evaluation of science and scientists that increasingly will have greater relevance to find financing for projects and investigations.

The issues addressed, the vision of scientific communication, basic bibliometric indicators used, the databases used for analysis of scientific production and its impact within the community, the basic use of these databases and how to deal extracted information for reporting, to name a few, we approached the work done within the research group EC3 of the University of Granada to different institutions.

The statement by the speakers were facing two workshops that had never previously given us of the opportunity to live those we present. The description of how to consult databases, normalization of the authors and filter data are sometimes knowledge acquired after many hours of experience, having found in dead ends that are discovered after checking data that indicate that something is definitely wrong. That is, Evaristo and Alvaro provided an experience that can not be transmitted via the printed texts and learned to give us a passionate and entertaining vision of a subject which is often referred to as dry by the students of Library and Information Science.

I must confess that it left me wondering, despite some technical difficulties when displaying it, was the implementation Scientific. A product developed largely by Daniel Torres Salinas, which clearly shows that with great desire, tenacity and vision can get great results.

  2. jo guys thanks for the comments as positive Scientific!

  3. Science is a past and why not let us play with it ... :-(

A very good job of truth. Congratulations, Daniel.

  4. Thank you very much Mark for chronic

only a nuance: the unpublished was the second workshop, the first is already a classic ec3.
